WEEK 7 - Color Theory
Is a combination of science and art of using colors.
- RGB (red, green, blue) - Additive color mixing model, used for on screen and projectors
- CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, key) - Subtractive color mixing model, used for printing
- Hue - most basic of color terms and denotes an object's color
- Shade - is a hue to which black has been added (red+black= burgundy)
- Tint - is a hue to which white has been added (red+white=pink)
- Tone - a color to which black & white has been added
Color Harmony
- Monochromatic colors
- Analogous - 3 colors located right next to each other in a color palette
- Complementary - colors opposites on the color wheel
- Split complementary - involves 3 colors, find 1 color and use the 2 complement colors either side of it
- Triadic - evenly spaced around the color wheel
Warm vs Cool
Black adds an air of sophistication and elegance
White gives off an impression of clean, virtuous, and
healthy
