> Task 3 : Exercise | Type Design & Communication
I scrolled and explored different types of illustrated and types of fonts using pinterest.

After a little research and exploration on what my approaches are, I started on the sketching process

After getting approval, I start to digitize.
3. Digitization
I started to make the star shapes. I experimented with different methods to make it.

To create the letters, I used the shape builder tool. Thickness and the size of the stars are the same since I used 1 for a template and copy and paste to create the letters.

After completing the font, we exported and download it so we can use it as a font. I asked AI to come up with a quote using the letters we've designed.

FEEDBACK
general feedback - A short brief about task 3, and how we should do it
specific feedback - Mr. max came into each table to give a close up how to do it, I made 1 sketch and he gave feedbacks on the shape
general feedback - gives us a reminder about our task 1&2. and proceed to consult us with our task 3
specific feedback - among the 12 sketches i made, he chose 3 and let me decide which one i want to do.
general feedbacks - I have finished my digitization and showed Mr Max
specific feedbacks - I have some letters that i need to make changes to, and I changed it during class, after that i got the approval for all of the final letters.
general feedbacks - Taught us how to start FontLab and the details
specific feedbacks - Finished digitizing and continue to put the letters in FontLab
general feedbacks - make sure we're on track with the assignment and helped us when we faced some problems with exporting
specific feedback - I couldn't export my AI JPG file but soon figured it out. I also consulted my kerning and metrics with Mr. Max
REFLECTION
Experience - Amongst the 3 task given, I enjoyed this one the most. In this task I really enjoyed the brainstorming and sketching process. I had a hard time with making all the letters are all in the same scale of size, and I re do my letters about 3 times before I actually am satisfied with the result.
It is also an eye-opening experience, cause I would never imagined myself making my own font, an it is really interesting.
Observations - Feedbacks from Mr. Max is really helpful. When I was stuck on how to develop the letter designs, Mr. Max helped me with a few ideas, where I eventually can develop. You can see in Fig. 3.5. on the letters I redesigned.
Findings - I just found out about fontlab from this task. Even though it can be a little intimidating at first, but with a little bit of guide, I manage to finish it.

Part 1 Intangibles - Timelessness & Equity (28 & 32)
> Timelessness
Use primary shapes and primary colors due to their timeless formal values. Approach is Typography that transcends subjectivity and look for objective values, something beyond times, and does not follow trends. Strive for a design that is centered on the message instead of the visual titillation.
