        INSTRUCTION

        LECTURES

Week 1 - Types of infographics

Week 2 - Bad vs Good Infographics

        INFOGRAPHIC REDESIGN

        Why I Chose this infographic?
        • Irrelevant graphics that doesn't illustrate the content
        • Although the color palette is already okay, it still can be improved
        • Length of text is not consistent, some are noticeably longer than the others
        • Small font size
        REDESIGN

        My focus:
        • Improve readibility
        • Improve overall design to make it more eye-catching
        • Use relevant graphics to illustrate the contents

        QUANTIFY INFOGRAPHICS

        Data

After browsing through my options, I decided to use fallen leaves from my garden as my item.

        Sorting

I first sort by the type of leaves, I noticed there's a noticeable difference in the age of the leaves based on the size and colors. I wanted to show the difference between young leaves and old leaves based on those differences.

I also find this chart of leave shapes to see the specific name of the leave shapes.

        Arrange

For the layout itself, I tried a few different layout. My first attempt was to make a spiral layout, But then I quickly realize it is gonna be hard for the viewer to tell the difference between the young and older leaves. Plus, it makes it a bit harder to process the information.

        Attempt #1 Circular layout

        Attempt #2

So after trying out another layout, I find this type of table works the best. It delivers the information clearly and is still visually interesting.

        Presented Visually

After I'm satisfied with the layout, I realized than an A3 Paper is too small for my project as some of the leaves are a bit big. So I used a leftover board as my based and cut out the words and stick it into the board.

        Story

The main theme is "Friday's Fallen Leaves (sorted by age, shape and size)".

        FINAL OUTCOME

        FEEDBACK

        Week 1
        Project briefing, no feedback

        Week 2
Showed the ideas we have on mind. Mr. Kannan said that the leaf idea itself is good but need a little bit of story behind it, cannot be leaves only, I can use fallen leaves as my theme.

        REFLECTION

For the first two weeks we were asked to do a number of group work and individual work. I find that every task is still manageable and had fun doing it.
