1. Further develop the chosen sketch from task 3, and incorporate
design principles into the final design.
2. Create final design in A4 size, JPEG format, at least 300 dpi.
Label <Name_Title of Design_Task3>
3. Write a 200 word rationale (decisions, meaning/purpose, design
principles in the design)
TASK 3 - Development
sketch #3
In this sketch, I also want to take the butterfly aspect to it.
Focusing on the growth and transformation of mind and how we
think. For the hair, it will be solid black, then at the back
part of the hair, there will be patterns of plants and
butterfly. The main focus is how we need to adapt and keep transforming, and it all started
from the mind
In this work, I want depict what "rebirth" and "growth" looks
like to me. "Mindbloom", I believe that growth starts from
within, whether your heart or mind. The placement of the
flowers and butterflies is to show that growth is contagious.
The hollow parts is to show there is always room for growth
and you should never stop to seek and grow. Color choice is
also has it's meanings, the bland and solid color of the hair
and background is to show the contrast of the colorful
flowers, indicating that growth is full of full of life.
Here's a further rationale of each elements;
1. Sorrow Expression
This decision is heavily inspired by my chosen artwork. A
sorrow expression refers to the feeling of regret, loss, or
deep sadness.
The story I want to tell is that, you have to fall in order to
grow, and you have to loss in order to gain.
2. Glowing Butterflies
Butterflies is also taken from the chosen artwork.
Butterflies represents transformation, personal growth, death and
rebirth.
When normally butterflies are colorful, I intentionally made
it white with subtle colors is to show that growth comes
gradually, slowly and not rapid. And in the end growth feels
peaceful.
3. Flowers
Here, flowers also indicates growth. The different types
of flowers and pattern shows that growth comes in many
forms and ways.
You are the only one who can decide in what way you want
to grow
General Feedback - Explained the task
requirements
Specific Feedback - -
Week 6
General Feedback - He likes the
progress
Specific Feedback - Need to fix the
shape of the hair, other than that keep
going.
Week 7
General Feedback - Good work
Specific Feedback - Change the video
into a gif so that the video loops
REFLECTIONS
Experience - Had a
wonderful time in this module. With the help
from my assigned lecturer Dr. Charles, he
gave really good feedbacks, and every effort
we put he recognizes. Although I already had
some understanding in the principles in
design, this modules bring me deeper
understanding of it.
Observations - Looking
at my peers work was one of my favorite part
in this module. It is interesting to see
what type of art styles they enjoy and how
they make new ideas from it. Some of the
ideas I found very interesting. Feedbacks
from Dr. Charles for me and my peers are
also insightful.
Findings - I realized
that art is much more than making things
look good. There are many aspects that plays
into it. I find making a new idea from an
existing artworks a little bit challenging
as it is hard not to copy their style, but
at the end I manage to develop my own
idea.
