PROJECT 2 EXERCISE 1 - LALIN EDIT

LALIN EDIT

(Week2) we were given a folder with some clips for our materials that we need to download. To make things easier, I watched the original Lalin video to give me a good overview of the story.

After importing the files in Premier Pro, we start by reviewing each video to know the order of it. Then, when you find the video you want to edit, you can select parts of the scene you want to take to put into by using (i) for mark in & (o) for mark out.

I stumbled upon some difficulty when editing the disappear transition scene, but thankfully the tutorial covers it.

Lastly, I put in the bubble chat photos into the video for the final touch. And here's the final outcome :

LALIN COLOR GRADING

Continuing from the last task, after we put all of the clips into a short video. I used the ripple tool (B) to cut it from 48s into 35s sharp.

Next comes the color grading. Mr Martin asked us to use 1 adjustment layer. Here I played with the contrast, saturation, white balance and a little bit of hue.

Here is the side by side comparison of before and after the adjustment layer.

PROJECT 2 EXERCISE 2 - PRODUCTION SHOT

Pre-production

Team members prepared themselves before the shot. My role in this project is to act as the husband, so the day before out shot, I reviewed the scenes and the dialogues, referring to the pdf above. Here's a few photos of behind the scenes.

After the production shot, we imported the audio and film files into a joint google drive file and began to edit it separately.

Post-production

All video and audio files are transported into Adobe Premier Pro for the trailer edit.

I first cut the scenes to make the trailer footage, then I added the dialogue audio to match the video.

After that, I looked into some sound effects on FreeSound and added it into my trailer. Satisfied with my audio and overall clips, I did color grading to each shot to enhance the visuals.

Here is a side by side comparison of before (left) and after (right) the color grading.

RELECTION

For the first exercise, I found it okay. I'm not really a fan of video editing, but learning how to color grade is something i've always wanted to learn. However, I had a lot of fun doing the second exercise. My team was great and this  is m first time "acting" and it was fun.
