        INSTRUCTION

        LECTURES

        Week 2 - L.A.T.C.H

        POKEMON L.A.T.C.H

For this second exercise, we are asked to make an infographic based on the L.A.T.C.H framework. Out of the 5 principles we are needed to include 4 of the principles into our infographic.

From all of the examples given by the lecturer, I decided to use pokemons as the topic for my L.A.T.C.H infographic. I first browse through the pokedex website to see what i'm working with. I then identify the principles into:
        • Location: Habitats (Sea, Land, Volcano and Sky)
        • Alphabet: -
        • Time: Generation 6 Pokemon
        • Category: Pokemon types (water, grass, fire, and flying)
        • Hierarchy: Pokemon evolution stages
        Main references:

        Map:

I first draw out the map in procreate. I initially wanted to do something similar to the examples given in the brief, drawing the island from a bird view.
But i figured that I want to draw something different and make it a little bit closed up.

So I decided to draw from this perspective. I drew out the habitats of the pokemons based on the information on the pokedex to form out the Location aspect from the L.A.T.C.H principle.

After finishing the overall map, I moved the drawing into Adobe Illustrator to proceed with the final touches for the infographic.

        Adobe Illustrator:

I played around with the layout and elements to figure which one looks best, I tried using circles and even tried using text boxes to put the pokemons in. But in the end I decided to use circles and triangles to make the arrow. I added details like shadows to each section to make it pop more.

I added highlight boxes to the final evolution pokemon and also added the symbols for each type

        FEEDBACK

        Week 2
        Project briefing, no feedback

        Week 3
        No class (CNY holiday)

        REFLECTION

I enjoyed working on this project a lot! Especially during my research about the pokemons, since i'm not a pokemon fan and know very little about it, it was pretty interesting to see the hundreds of pokemon types. Designing the infographic itself was also fun, visualizing the world and try to simplify the information as brief as possible is a bit challenging but it was fun.
